Origins: Imagining a Future Society
In 1993 I collaborated with the former CEO of MathSoft to build an educational software startup. Our first project was an interactive scenario set several decades after the new millennium. This fictional world emerged from the collapse of pre millennial corporations and national governments—a response to growing disparities and environmental crises. It imagined a society where the old power structures had fallen away, forcing humanity to reinvent itself as a global family and steward of the planet.
Awakening and Expansion
Thirty years later, in 2023, a spiritual awakening transformed this narrative into a mission: supporting humanity’s ascension to a transcendent state. The concept evolved into Corpus Lucis Terrae (“Light Body of the Earth”) and expanded to eight levels, each associated with a trigram from the Bā Guà and guided by covenants that describe the right relationships between levels. The Wǔ Xíng (five elements) continued to define guild qualities.
Holonic Vision: Levels of Community
To preserve knowledge and skills, I envisioned social organization across nested levels: individual, family, clan, tribe, nation and world. Each level would enter into a covenant with its members, guiding relationships within and between groups. Across these groups, guilds—Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood—would cultivate archetypal skills and qualities.
